Katie & Martin, St George & St Theresa’s Church Dorridge & Nailcote Hall, 8th May
May 11th, 2010
Although we pre-plan as much as possible we’re always at the mercy of the weather and on Saturday we had more rain to contend with than any other wedding we can remember. Although it didn’t quite rain all day it did it’s best, but with a bit of careful rain-dodging and some very handy white umbrellas it was barely a problem.
Katie and Martin had chosen Katie’s local parish RC church of St George & St Theresa in Dorridge. Although quite a modern building, the church had a welcoming feel to it with plenty of light and space. We were also granted permission to do pretty much whatever we needed to get our work done – this attitude is so refreshing compared to some other churches!
For the reception we returned once more to Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire. We’d been impressed with Nailcote in the past – especially with the staff – and this time we liked it even more due to the improvements to the rear grounds. The staff as before, were excellent. It’s a venue we look forward to returning to again later this year.
Starting off at Katie’s parents’ house in Knowle, we got started on documenting the big day. I stayed with the girls while Sarah hooked up with the boys once they’d arrived at the church a little later in the morning. Once at the church, the hour-long ceremony began and it was great to be able to move about and work unimpeded.
As the church was hosting another wedding straight afterwards, everyone dodged the rain and made their way over to Nailcote Hall straight after the service. Here we began the family group photos – some of which ended up being under our white umbrellas – and then getting the couple outside alone for a few minutes at a time when the rain stopped. An ‘interesting’ afternoon then, but we got the job done and even managed to keep Katie’s dress dry! The rain did ease off a little later in the afternoon but not for long, so we were literally making the most of every minute we could get them outside. This was a really lovely wedding, with the closeness of Katie and Martin’s family apparent throughout the day, but especially during the speeches.
So as usual, we’re showing here a ‘sneek peek’ of some of the images from Katie and Martin’s big day. The full set will be available to view in our Client Area once the couple have returned home from honeymoon and seen their presentation.
