post Victoria & Matthew’s Wedding, Avoncroft Museum, Worcestershire, 28th November

December 26th, 2009

Now we come to the last of our weddings for 2009.  Victoria and Matthew had chosen the fantastic Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings as both their ceremony and reception venue.  Although we’ve exhibited at several wedding fayres at Avoncroft, this was the first time we’d photographed here.  This was a particularly important shoot for us as Avoncroft is the venue we’ve chosen for our own wedding in 2011!

Matthew, his best man and ushers were getting ready at a nearby hotel, while Vicky and her bridesmaid got ready at home, in Worcester.  For this wedding, Sarah and I did a ‘split’ morning where I covered the girls preparations while Sarah stayed with the boys.  We always try to do this as long as it’s logistically possible as it means more varied and less intrusive coverage for the client.

At Avoncroft itself, the wedding guests can wander around the entire museum site if they want to.  But, with the cold November weather outside most people opted to stay inside the warm and inviting Guesten Hall – the centre of the museum and of the events of the day.  As a venue to photograph, Avoncroft is one of the most interesting and unusual you’ll ever find.  There are so many out-buildings it’s simply impossible to cover them all in one session.  The windmill is one of the most well-known exhibit buildings at the museum as well as the large collection of telephone boxes.  I reckon we could shoot half a dozen weddings at Avoncroft and never have to use the same location twice!  It’s a beautifully kept and unusual wedding venue and it’s one we very much look forward to returning to.

So, as usual here’s a small selection of our work from Vicky and Matt’s wedding day.  The rest of the images will be available to view in the Client Area once the couple have returned home and seen their presentation.

post Vicki & Alastair’s Wedding, Grafton Manor, Worcestershire, 14th November

December 22nd, 2009

Vicki and Alastair booked us with only a few weeks to go before their November wedding.  They’d been given the opportunity to take a cancellation slot so had to organise everything in about six weeks! Their wedding was held at Grafton Manor, near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire – a venue we worked at in May of this year.  However this time was a totally different experience.

The big difference this time around was of course the winter light, or rather a lack of it.  Vicki and Alastair’s ceremony was due to start at 3pm but we were there around 11am to start capturing the morning preparations.  This was not a particularly bright day and with the dark interior of the main Grafton building we certainly had our work cut out!

Vicki and Alastair were a lot of fun to work with and the organisation put in by both them and their families was impressive, especially given the short time they’d had to make everything happen, and we’d like to thank them again for arranging a lovely meal for us during the break.

So here then is just a small selection of images from Vicki and Alastair’s big day.  If you attended the wedding you can see the entire set of pictures in our Client Area  – the gallery password is the groom’s surname (lowercase).
